About Us

Oz/Az brings together four musicians from diverse backgrounds, combining over 120 years of live performance experience. With a distinctive sound and a deep passion for the music that forms the soundtrack of our lives, the band delivers an authentic homage to the golden era of Australian rock — raw, real, and unapologetically genuine.

Oz/Az offers high-energy, engaging, and authentic live performances that captivate audiences. Versatile and adaptable, the band is ideally suited for any venue and occasion. Whether delivering intimate acoustic sets or dynamic, high-energy shows, Oz/Az tailors each performance to meet the specific needs of the event.

Fully self-sufficient, the band provides its own professional sound and lighting systems, enabling seamless performances in venues of any size, anywhere and at any time.

Ji Deeg

Vocals/Guitar

Ji Deeg is a seasoned musician with roots in New South Wales, where he began playing music from an early age. By 18, he was performing professionally in bands across Newcastle’s club scene. In 1999, Ji moved to Western Australia initially to play rugby league but soon reignited his musical journey touring with well known acts as a tech including Sebastian Bach of 'Skid Row' then as a guitarist or bassist starting with 'A Bone of A Contention”'then moving on to 'Blackjack' had a stint with Perth Based Yugoslavian rock outfit 'Zemlja'. Ji played in a trio featuring East coast Blues legend Pop Standen and Australian guitar royalty Phil Emmanuel and eventually the original recording band 'Kobashi'—where he reunited with longtime collaborator and drummer Adam. With a love for country music Ji’s musical style is grounded in acoustic traditions. He also explored the world of acoustic comedy under the name Boofhead, drawing inspiration from Aussie comedy legend Kevin Bloody Wilson. In 2023, Ji and Adam launched a new creative project, OZ/AZ playing Australian classics hugely popular regionally around Australia marking a fresh chapter in their musical partnership.

Tom Milovanovic

Lead Guitar/Vocal

Lead Guitarist "Aussie Tom" started to play accordion at age 7, and then guitar in high school. After being kicked out from school band rehearsal for playing the correct chords, he later was asked to  join the same band as a lead guitarist and Tom has continued to play the guitar since. In 1995 Tom moved to New Zealand and then in 2000 to Brisbane where he played in Balkan themed bands until 2009. Tom then formed Aussie bands 'One Fret Back', 'Paper Seagull' and 'Infamous Poets' with whom he recorded an album 'No Time Like Now'. With influences like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Deep Purple to name a few, Tom's style is pure Rock n Roll. In 2023 Tom finally moved to Perth and joined OZ/AZ.

 

 

 

 

 

Paul O'Neill

Bass/Vocals

Paul started on ukulele aged 8, first garage band at 15 played first pub gig at 16. Worked with various cover bands in Perth and touring around Western Australia. Toured to Queensland 1984. Toured to New South Wales 1986 and played around Sydney for two years. Was a founding member of the Fab Four Beatles tribute in 1993, did three tours with legendary blues man Matt Taylor mid nineties. Opened for Deep Purple 1999 at The Burswood Dome with 'The Ian Kenny Band'. Formed trio, 'Hat Trick' in 2001 not formally disbanded. 2011-2023 played with 'The Kerry B Ryan Blues Experience', and various side projects. Paul is vastly experienced in most genres as a bass player. And now enjoying working with OZ/AZ.

Adam Douglas

Drums/Vocals

Musical from a young age, Adam picked up the guitar and drums at 10 and taught himself how to play. At 11 he started teaching himself piano and bass guitar as well. From early on playing in school bands, Adam developed his skills on the job, learning and honing his craft by doing. At 16 after being kicked out of home, Adam went from Adelaide to Sydney to develop his skills, heading back to Adelaide in 1995 to pursue his music. At 20 he recorded his first album with band 'Not Negotiable' on the keys and got the taste for playing more and more. Following many years of fronting guitar led solo and band projects playing all over South Australia, Queensland, NT and more, Adam moved to Perth in 2001. Still playing solo with guitar Adam got the itch to play more and realised drums were his first love. After a chance encounter with Ji, Adam joined bands 'Blackjack' and 'Kobashi' as drummer and formed Oz/Az with Ji which has become a passion.
